WELCOME! We are delighted you have expressed an interest in our preschool program. In an attempt to give you as much information as possible about our program, we have compiled this handbook. If there are any questions or concerns that you may have regarding our preschool or policies, please do not hesitate to ask. Your children are special to us. It is our desire that their first experiences with school be a positive foundation on which to build. It is our goal at Smithfield Baptist Preschool to provide a learning atmosphere within a Christian environment. We offer a program covering developmental skill, academic skills, moral and spiritual awareness, and basic Christian principles. We strive to meet the needs of each child - physically, socially, academically, and spiritually. We believe one of the most important areas of focus for the preschool child is that of socialization. This is a time when he is learning to interact with others - children and adults. This period of socialization is so very important, as your child is learning the foundations of interpersonal relationships that he will carry with him the rest of his life. One of the objectives of a preschool is to expose the children to the world around them. Children this age are very curious and eager to learn. One of the methods of teaching that works well with young children is hands-on experiences. In an attempt to provide as many of these as possible for the children, we will take several field trips, have mini-labs at school, and schedule guest speakers throughout the year. Our preschool staff wishes to create a wholesome Christian environment where children enjoy learning. We at Smithfield Baptist Preschool love to see young children having fun.....especially having fun while learning!
